Meet the Board of Directors
Douglas Seiler, M.D.
President
Dr. Douglas Seiler arrived at TRA in 2008 and in 2017 became President of TRA-MINW, the newly merged company. TRA Medical Imaging is now the 9th largest radiology practice in the nation with a team of almost 100 radiologists and 350 staff. His roots in medical school began at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana, where he completed his medical degree and internship. He then moved to Seattle, Washington where he held his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Washington. At the University of Washington Medical Center he received the Residency Program Clinic Educator of the Year Award and completed his Fellowship in the subspecialty field of Neuroradiology. As a board certified, fellowship-trained Neuroradiologist, Dr. Seiler brings his expertise and specialty focusing on the diagnosis and characterization of abnormalities of the central and peripheral nervous system, spine, and head and neck using neuroimaging techniques primarily in CT and MRI imaging. Dr. Seiler is a member of the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, and the American Society of Neuroradiology. Dr. Seiler was an impetus in the forming of the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation with the vision to be an exemplary community partner in promoting better health and wellbeing now and for future generations. TRA Medical Imaging Foundation works to “give back” by supporting and promoting advancements in healthcare and education for those with whom they share this beautiful region. Dr. Seiler has served as the Board Chair of the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation since 2020.
Frank Wessbecher, M.D.
Vice President
Dr. Francis (Frank) Wessbecher served as a radiologist at TRA Medical Imaging from 1991-2019. He received his Bachelor of Sciences at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.; followed with his Doctor of Medicine at John Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore Maryland. He held is Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Connecticut, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Wessbecher continued his fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University of Washington, Medical Center, in Seattle, Washington and continued as a Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology at the University of Washington until joining TRA in 1991. Since his retirement Dr. Wessbecher has been active in the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation, serving as the Vice President and providing expertise about the changing healthcare and imaging environment to assist in guiding the foundation about meaningful areas to serve its mission.
Chris Coates
Secretary/Treasurer
Chris Coates is a Washington native. He has served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TRA Medical Imaging since 2018. Prior to serving in the CEO role, Mr. Coates served as TRA’s Chief Financial Officer since 2010. An experienced healthcare executive, Mr. Coates provides exceptional leadership and management of the organization to include short and long-term strategic planning. He is also active in healthcare and radiology specific organizations locally and nationally to assist in policy administration and guidance. He serves as a member of the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA), Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) & Rotary International. Mr. Coates has been instrumental in the design and oversight of the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation. He works closely with community partners to identify needs and partnerships for the Foundation in serving its with a goal to “fill gaps” in promoting comprehensive healthcare across all sectors and populations.
Krista Fox
Director
Krista Fox’s role as the Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) is key in leading the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) CTE department in making meaningful progress on OSPI’s Strategic Goal of Rigorous Learner-Centered Options in Every Community; including ensuring high demand CTE programming is easy to navigate, including meaningful dual credit and industry recognized credentials, and supports preparation for gainful employment. Krista will lead transformation in support of Washington students. Ms. Fox is an experienced, student-focused administrator with a firm commitment to access and opportunity for all. She has more than 25 years with Washington’s Community and Technical College system (SBCTC) and has recently served as the Associate Provost of Workforce and Dean of Health, Business & Wellness at Tacoma Community College serving in roles that support, enhance, and implement relevant and industry aligned Career Training programs. She is a first-generation college graduate and credits her experience as a community college student for developing her deep commitment and equity focused approach to educating tomorrow’s Workforce. Ms. Fox’s leadership and experiences include enhancing dual credit opportunities, K-12 partnership, instruction and administration, program development and implementation, grant procurement and management, and state and federal regulatory compliance just to highlight a few. What is evident from her work, is her commitment to supporting and empowering educators, families, and communities. She excels at developing partnerships that contribute to supporting and developing high quality, learner-centered Career Training opportunities.
Abbe Salk
Director
Abbe Salk offers experience in non-profit programs, strategic planning, and community collaboration. Her work in health care, community relations, and human resources informs her understanding of private and public healthcare delivery systems, workforce development, and other essential community safety nets. To reinforce her practical experience, Ms. Salk earned a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from The Evergreen State College in 2021, as part of the college’s inaugural Tacoma community. Through her professional, and academic experiences, she has seen first-hand the challenges and opportunities that exist when government, non-profit, private organizations, and community members intersect. With non-profit Lindquist Dental Clinic for Children, Ms. Salk forged countywide relationships to connect youth to a dental home, and raise awareness of oral health as an essential component to overall wellbeing. Her volunteer work encompasses years of board governance, and hands-on work with Medicare benefit advising program, SHIBA; CHI Franciscan Hospice; Tacoma Community House; Eastside Adult Day Health Care, et al. Ms. Salk believes in the importance of community members’ involvement in addressing needs, and expanding equitable access to health, education, and economic opportunity for all. She is honored to support the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation’s initiatives that work with community partners to increase awareness of and expand access to health care professional opportunities.
Liesl Santkuyl
Director
Liesl Santkuyl has been living and working in Tacoma, Washington for the last twenty-five years as a community advocate, public health educator and social justice activist. Liesl enjoys working to support grassroots efforts to increase education, social, economic, and health equity. She believes that every voice counts and that helping others speak out about their lives and what they need can help shape policy, systems and the environment that in turn shape the quality of peoples’ lives in community. Liesl earned a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and has worked as a health educator and manager in migrant health centers, public health, hospitals, and nonprofits in Wisconsin and Washington. Ms. Santkuyl taught nutrition and public health concepts in Guatemala in the Peace Corps and in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in an immersion Spanish language public school. Living and working in Tacoma since 1997, she was a Community Liaison Specialist at the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department for 9 years, Community Outreach Liaison for MultiCare Center for Healthy Living for five years. During the pandemic, she worked as a Community Engagement Coordinator at the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department in their Health Equity Department working on Participatory Budgeting, Listening Sessions with action plans shaped by community in communities of color, and participatory policy making regarding land trust work in Pierce County. Born in Venezuela, Ms. Santkuyl lived in Mexico and Guatemala during her childhood and early twenties and thoroughly enjoys working to help Latine youth, parents and families to have a stronger voice and become more engaged in the Tacoma community. She is married and has two sons, ages 20 and 24. Ms. Santkuyl helped to organize two Latino Town Halls in Tacoma in 2016 with other area Latino volunteers, and helped to form Latinx Unidos of the South Sound (LUSS), which is a group of Latinx community members that work collectively to help the community understand the important contributions of our community and some of our unique strengths and challenges as well. Throughout her career, Liesl has advocated for, and worked towards, creating a diverse health profession workforce by exposing youth in our area to health careers at early ages, particularly high school youth of color.
Jeffrey Wesoloski, M.D
Director
Dr. Jeffrey Wesolowski was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Harvard College. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed a Diagnostic Radiology (DR) residency at The Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. Following a neuroradiology fellowship at The Massachusetts General Hospital, he spent nearly a decade on faculty at the University of Michigan where he served both as Associate Program Director for the DR residency as well as Associate Chief of Neuroradiology. During that time, Dr. Wesolowski also earned a Masters in Health Services Administration degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Dr. Wesolowski joined TRA Medical Imaging in 2017 as a Neuroradiologist and served four years as Chief of Neuroradiology. He currently serves as the Director of Outpatient Operations for the practice. Having devoted much of his career to working in some aspect of medical education, Dr. Wesolowski enjoys the opportunity to continue to be actively involved in supporting the next generation of health care providers. He believes that only by investing in the students of today can we guarantee that there will be practitioners for tomorrow. Though Dr. Wesolowski is relatively new to the Pacific Northwest, his commitment to the region is robust, having helped move his entire extended family to the South Sound region over the past 5 years.His current memberships in professional societies include: the American Society of Neuroradiology; American College of Radiology; Radiological Society of North America; and the American Roentgenology Ray Society.
