The TRA Medical Imaging Foundation Awards $40,000 in scholarships to four students in Tacoma Community College's Radiologic Technology Program

PRESS RELEASE | Tacoma, January 31, 2025:  The TRA Medical Imaging Foundation is pleased to announce the acceptance of four students from Tacoma Community College (TCC) into its scholarship program. These students, part of the Fall 2024 cohort, are in their first year of the Radiologic Technologist program. Applications for the Spring 2025 cohort open on April 22, 2025.

The Dr. William B. Jackson Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance and mentorship to individuals pursuing careers in imaging sciences. The scholarship is designed to support aspiring imaging professionals who face financial barriers, ensuring they receive the education and training needed to enter the field. By offering scholarships and guidance, the fund aims to build a skilled and diverse workforce in radiological technology, addressing the critical shortage of healthcare personnel in the United States.

TRA Medical Imaging Foundation scholars are selected based on financial need and career goals. The program is dedicated to supporting students with financial need while equipping them with mentorship to achieve their career goals. Through mentorship, students gain access to experienced technologists, radiologists, and healthcare professionals who provide resources, career guidance, and ongoing support to help them succeed.

The TRA Medical Imaging Foundation, established in 2020 began with four scholars and has witnessed significant growth. By 2025, the Foundation has celebrated the graduation of 16 scholars and continues to mentor 12 ongoing scholars from TCC's Imaging Science programs. Many graduates of the scholar and mentorship program stay engaged through the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation Alumni Association, advocating for the profession and supporting career development.

As the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation continues to grow, we remain committed to expanding educational opportunities in CT, MRI, and Mammography. These initiatives will help address workforce shortages, create career pathways, and enhance the quality of healthcare in our community.
